Pavilion Builder in Amelia Island, FL

Custom backyard pavilions for Amelia Island: roofed gathering spaces designed in person with you in AutoCAD and built on site.

A pavilion is the gathering place at the back of the yard. AY Luxury Designs designs pavilions, serving homeowners on Amelia Island, planned in AutoCAD with the walkway, the floor and what goes underneath. Marsh views on the west side of Amelia Island and ocean breezes on the east side call for different kinds of shade and screening.

Pavilion Options on Amelia Island

  • Freestanding gathering space. Set out in the yard or at the end of a walkway, sized for how many people you host.
  • Long dining table. Room for a crowd under one roof.
  • Fireplace. A focal point for cooler nights.
  • Matching roofline. Roof and columns finished to suit the house.

Shade makes a real difference: the EPA reports that shaded surfaces can be 20 to 45°F cooler than the peak temperatures of unshaded materials.

What Shapes a Pavilion on Amelia Island

Oceanfront lots on Amelia Island can sit seaward of the state's Coastal Construction Control Line, which adds a state review for some structures. With ocean wind in the picture, the tie-in between the new roof and the house is where we spend the most design time.

Matching the roofing and columns to the house is what makes a pavilion look planned. Before we draw a pavilion on Amelia Island, we check the footprint for the table and kitchen, where power has to run and the view from the pavilion.

Fans under a covered roof help because moving air helps sweat evaporate from your skin; as ENERGY STAR puts it, fans cool people, not rooms.

Amelia Island HOA Review and Permits

Many Amelia Island homes are in communities with an architectural review board, and trees are often part of what the board looks at. For a pavilion, boards typically look at its footprint on the lot, its height and its distance from the property lines. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Two offices permit Amelia Island homes, and some oceanfront lots add a state review. We sort out which apply before we design. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
