Outdoor Lighting in Nassau County
Nassau County outdoor lighting that makes the backyard usable and beautiful after sunset.
After dark, a backyard is only as good as its lighting. Steps you can see, seat walls that glow and a ceiling you can dim change how often you use the space. We design and install outdoor lighting for homeowners in Nassau County as part of the AutoCAD design, with our licensed electrical partner.

Lighting a Nassau County Backyard
In-ground paver lights. Fixtures set into the patio surface.
Tree uplights. Uplights in the canopy add depth to the whole yard.
Dimmers and zones. Different moods for dinner, a party or a quiet night.
Lighting an existing patio. Adding fixtures to what you already have.
UF/IFAS notes that lighting along walkways and driveways gives visual guidance and can add safety and value to a home.
Planning an outdoor lighting design in Nassau County
Homes inside Fernandina Beach city limits are permitted by the City, and the Downtown and Old Town historic districts need a Certificate of Approval first. Newer Nassau County communities like Amelia Walk and Amelia National run their own architectural review. New-build backyards are often dark after sunset, so lighting is usually part of the first project.
Dimmers and zones let the same backyard feel like a dinner spot or a party space. Before we draw an outdoor lighting design in Nassau County, we check which trees or walls are worth lighting, what switches and dimmers you want and whether wires can run before new pavers go down. The wiring is handled with our licensed electrical partner and inspected with the rest of the project.
When designing an outdoor living space, UF/IFAS suggests planning power for cooking and lighting early.
Approvals and Permits in Nassau County
Some Nassau County homes need HOA approval and some need historic review; we sort that out before we design. Some boards review exterior lighting for glare and fixture style. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
We confirm whether your home is in Fernandina Beach or unincorporated Nassau County, then file the permit and schedule the inspections.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does an outdoor lighting design cost in Nassau County? It depends on the design, so there's no standard price. The main cost drivers are how many zones and controls; distance from the panel; new pavers or walls the wiring runs through; the number and type of fixtures; and permits. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum, and you get a fully itemized custom quote within 24 hours of your consultation.
How do you avoid glare?Fixtures are aimed down and placed so you see the light, not the bulb. We show the plan in AutoCAD first.
Should lighting be planned before pavers?Ideally, yes. Running wire before the pavers go down keeps everything hidden.
Have you built in Nassau County?Yes. Our projects include work in Amelia Walk, Amelia National, Fernandina Beach and Yulee.
Does my Nassau County home need HOA approval for outdoor lighting or electrical work?It depends on your street. In Nassau County, review depends on the address: a community board, Fernandina Beach's historic review, or neither. Some HOAs review lighting. We check before we design and prepare any package needed. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
