Marsh Landing Summer Kitchen Options

  • Next to the fire. A summer kitchen beside a fireplace or fire pit keeps the whole evening in one place.

  • Full kitchen. Grill, side burner, fridge and storage for families who cook outside often.

  • Power planned in. Circuits for appliances and lights designed with the layout.

  • With a bar. Bar seating so the cook isn't cooking alone.

In a national survey of residential landscape architects by ASLA, outdoor kitchens ranked among the top outdoor design elements, expected to be popular by nearly 59% of respondents.

Planning a summer kitchen in Marsh Landing

Homes on the course or the water are seen from both sides, so the back of a Marsh Landing project matters as much as the view from inside. Mature landscaping is common on Marsh Landing lots, so placement is planned around what's already there. Salt air is hard on outdoor kitchens, so we choose finishes for the exposure and place the kitchen out of the worst of the wind.

We often pair a summer kitchen with a fire feature so the cooking and the evening fire share one space. Before we draw a summer kitchen in Marsh Landing, we check whether a cover is wanted now or later, how the stonework matches the house and how close the kitchen can sit to the lanai.

According to the EPA, shaded surfaces can be 20 to 45°F cooler than the peak temperatures of unshaded materials.

Approvals and Permits in Marsh Landing

Marsh Landing's master association reviews exterior changes through its Architectural Review Board, and sub-associations can add their own steps. For a summer kitchen, review boards often want to know where it sits, what it's made of and whether a cover goes over it. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

In Marsh Landing, permits come from St. Johns County. We file the clearance sheet and the permit application, record the Notice of Commencement the county requires for most permitted projects, and schedule the inspections. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
