Outdoor Lighting Installation in Fernandina Beach, FL
Step lights, seat-wall lights and ceiling lights for Fernandina Beach homes, handled with our licensed electrical partner.
Good outdoor lighting is mostly invisible: you notice the glow, not the fixture. We plan lighting for Fernandina Beach backyards with the patio, the walls and the ceiling, so every light has a job and none of them glare. Fernandina's mix of historic homes, island lots and marsh views means salt air, mature trees and a design that respects the street.

Fernandina Beach Lighting Ideas
- Step and path lights. Light where people walk so the yard is safe after dark.
- Seat-wall lights. Lights tucked under wall caps for a soft glow.
- In-ground paver lights. Fixtures set into the patio surface.
- Kitchen task lighting. Light where you cook and serve, without glare in your eyes.
UF/IFAS notes that warm-white LEDs below about 3600K are harder for insects to see, while cooler-white bulbs attract more bugs.
Before We Draw Your Fernandina Beach Outdoor Lighting Design
Salt air, marsh views and mature trees shape materials and placement across Fernandina Beach. Mature trees are some of the best things to light, and uplights in the canopy add depth to the whole yard.
Every light should have a job. We start from where you walk and sit and add fixtures only where they help. Before we draw an outdoor lighting design in Fernandina Beach, we check which paths and steps need light first, where the panel is and how far runs go and how light falls toward the neighbors. We handle electrical work with our licensed electrical partner, and it's permitted and inspected with the rest of the project.
DarkSky International recommends aiming outdoor lights downward with shielding, using timers or motion sensors, and choosing warmer colors where possible.
HOA, Historic Review and Permits in Fernandina Beach
Newer neighborhoods like Amelia Walk and Amelia National have their own architectural review, while the historic districts follow the City's Historic District Council process. Lighting is sometimes part of HOA review, usually for fixture style and light spilling toward neighbors. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Many homes with a Fernandina Beach address, including newer communities on the mainland side, are in unincorporated Nassau County, while homes inside city limits are permitted by the City. We confirm your jurisdiction before we design, and a Notice of Commencement is required for most permitted projects. New circuits are permitted electrical work, and we pull the electrical permit with the rest of your project.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does an outdoor lighting design in Fernandina Beach cost? Every project gets a custom quote with an in-person AutoCAD design, and every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum. What drives the cost of an outdoor lighting design in Fernandina Beach: the number and type of fixtures; how many zones and controls; distance from the panel; new pavers or walls the wiring runs through; and permits. You get a fully itemized quote within 24 hours of your design consultation.
Does outdoor lighting need a permit? New electrical circuits are permitted work. We pull the electrical permit with the rest of your project.
Can you light trees in my yard? Yes. Uplights in a tree canopy are one of the best ways to add depth after dark.
Is my Fernandina Beach address in the city or the county? Not always the city. Many homes with a Fernandina Beach mailing address, including newer mainland communities, are in unincorporated Nassau County. We confirm your jurisdiction and pull the right permits.
Do I need HOA approval for outdoor lighting or electrical work in Fernandina Beach? Plan on it. In Fernandina Beach, the review depends on the address: the Historic District Council for Downtown and Old Town, or a community review board in neighborhoods like Amelia Walk and Amelia National. We put the package together and handle the submittal with you. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
