Outdoor Lighting Installation in Amelia Island, FL
Amelia Island outdoor lighting that makes the backyard usable and beautiful after sunset.
Most Amelia Island homes come with a couple of wall lights by the back door and not much else. We design layered outdoor lighting, from steps to ceilings to trees, with our licensed electrical partner. Live oaks and maritime forest are part of what makes Amelia Island, and they shape where a structure can go.

Outdoor Lighting Options on Amelia Island
- In-ground paver lights. Fixtures set into the patio surface.
- Tree uplights. Uplights in the canopy add depth to the whole yard.
- Dimmers and zones. Different moods for dinner, a party or a quiet night.
- Lighting an existing patio. Adding fixtures to what you already have.
DOE says good-quality white LED products are expected to last 30,000 to 50,000 hours or more, compared with about 1,000 hours for a typical incandescent bulb.
Planning an Outdoor Lighting Design on Amelia Island
Amelia Park and the beach neighborhoods have smaller lots than the resort communities, so compact structures work best. On the island, lighting near the beach has to respect sea turtle nesting areas, so fixtures are shielded and aimed low.
Dimmers and zones let the same backyard feel like a dinner spot or a party space. Before we draw an outdoor lighting design on Amelia Island, we check which trees or walls are worth lighting, what switches and dimmers you want and whether wires can run before new pavers go down. We handle the electrical side with our licensed electrical partner, so it's planned and permitted with the rest of the build.
Exterior lighting is one of the most-wanted home features, rated essential or desirable by 82% of buyers in NAHB's buyer study.
Approvals and Permits on Amelia Island
Many Amelia Island homes are in communities with an architectural review board, and trees are often part of what the board looks at. Some boards review exterior lighting for glare and fixture style. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Two offices permit Amelia Island homes, and some oceanfront lots add a state review. We sort out which apply before we design. New circuits are permitted electrical work, and we pull the electrical permit with the rest of your project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a minimum budget for an outdoor lighting design on Amelia Island? Yes. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum. Beyond that, the cost depends on how many zones and controls; distance from the panel; new pavers or walls the wiring runs through; the number and type of fixtures; and permits, and your fully itemized custom quote comes within 24 hours of your consultation.
How do you avoid glare? Fixtures are aimed down and placed so you see the light, not the bulb. We show the plan in AutoCAD first.
Should lighting be planned before pavers? Ideally, yes. Running wire before the pavers go down keeps everything hidden.
Have you worked near Amelia Island? Yes. Our recent work includes projects in Amelia Walk and Amelia National in the Fernandina Beach area, and we serve homeowners all across the island.
Will my Amelia Island HOA review outdoor lighting or electrical work? Usually, yes. On Amelia Island, community review boards in places like Amelia Island Plantation and Summer Beach look closely at materials, colors and trees, so the design starts from their guidelines. We prepare the site plan, scaled drawings and material and color selections and submit them with you. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
