Planning an outdoor electrical project in Nassau County
We've completed projects in Amelia Walk, Amelia National, Fernandina Beach and Yulee. Newer Nassau County communities like Amelia Walk and Amelia National run their own architectural review. Salt air and wind-driven rain are hard on outdoor wiring, so outlets, switches and fixtures are placed and protected for the exposure.
Every outdoor outlet is planned for wet locations, and switches are grouped so each area works on its own. Before we draw an outdoor electrical project in Nassau County, we check how much room is left in the panel, where outlets are protected from the weather and how switches are grouped. We plan every circuit in the design and handle the work with our licensed electrical partner.
Approvals and Permits in Nassau County
Newer Nassau County communities, such as Amelia Walk and Amelia National, run their own architectural review, while many older island streets don't have one. Electrical work itself is rarely an HOA question, but the fans, lights and structures it serves often are. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Homes inside Fernandina Beach city limits go through the City, and its Downtown and Old Town historic districts need a Certificate of Approval from the Historic District Council first.
The National Electrical Code has required ground-fault (GFCI) protection on outdoor receptacles since the early 1970s, according to the CPSC.
