Hot Tub Pads & Build-Ups in St. Augustine, FL
St. Augustine hot tub build-ups: a base for the weight, a surround that matches the patio, and lighted steps.
Some St. Augustine families want the hot tub inside the screen, others want it out under the stars. We design the pad, the surround and any cover over it as one plan.

St. Augustine Hot Tub Surround Ideas
A pad for the weight. A base designed for a filled hot tub, on pavers or a new slab.
Sunken or half-sunken. The spa set lower into a raised patio for an easier step in.
Inside the screen. A hot tub pad inside a screen enclosure for bug-free soaks.
Privacy walls. A wall or panels on the neighbor side.
The CPSC recommends a locked safety cover whenever a hot tub is not in use.
Designing a hot tub build-up for St. Augustine
St. Augustine homes run from salt-air lots on Vilano Beach and Anastasia Island to wooded preserve and pond lots in the newer communities west of town. Near the Matanzas River, the Intracoastal and the marsh, wind and salt exposure shape the choice of finishes. Sandy soil near the beach makes the base under the pavers important, and light-colored pavers stay cooler underfoot in full sun.
The cover is the part people forget. It needs room to fold back without blocking a walkway or a view. Before we draw a hot tub build-up in St. Augustine, we check the weight of the filled hot tub, where the cover opens and access for the equipment panel.
Approvals and Permits in St. Augustine
Newer St. Augustine communities usually have an architectural review board; older streets on the island often don't. Either way, we confirm what applies to your lot first. Boards often ask where the hot tub sits, how it's screened from neighbors and what the surround looks like. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Two offices permit St. Augustine homes: the City inside its limits and St. Johns County outside them. We pull the right permit for your address and schedule the inspections.
The National Electrical Code requires GFCI protection for outlets that supply packaged hot tubs, unless the tub is listed with built-in GFCI protection, according to NEC training guidance.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a hot tub build-up in St. Augustine cost?Every project gets a custom quote with an in-person AutoCAD design, and every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum. What drives the cost of a hot tub build-up in St. Augustine: any pergola, gazebo or screen over it; the size and weight of the hot tub; a pad or a full build-up; the surround finish; and permits. You get a fully itemized quote within 24 hours of your design consultation.
Can a hot tub go inside a screen enclosure?Often, yes. We plan the pad, the access and the screen together in the AutoCAD design.
Can you add a hot tub pad to my existing patio?Often, yes. We can extend the patio or build the pad beside it and match the finish.
Do you work in SilverLeaf, Shearwater and Markland?Yes. Our projects include work in SilverLeaf, Shearwater and Markland, and we serve homeowners all across St. Augustine. Each community runs its own architectural review, so confirm current guidelines with your association.
Do I need HOA approval for a hot tub pad or patio work in St. Augustine?Plan on it. In St. Augustine, the review that matters depends on where you live: a community architectural review board in places like SilverLeaf, Palencia or Markland, the City's historic review downtown, or simply the county's rules on an older street. We prepare what the board asks for, and the decision is the board's, so confirm current guidelines with your association.
