Gazebos in Nassau County
Nassau County gazebos with a wood ceiling, fans and lights, built to look like part of the house.
When you want a room outside that works in an afternoon storm, a gazebo is the answer. We design custom gazebos for homeowners in Nassau County with a wood ceiling, fans and lights, and room for a kitchen or fireplace underneath. A gazebo can stand on its own in the yard or attach to the house, and its roof can be flat, shed-style or an A-frame.

How Nassau County Families Use a Gazebo
Freestanding in the yard. A destination at the end of the patio or a path.
Privacy panels. Panels on one side for privacy from the neighbors.
Over the hot tub. Shade and shelter where you soak.
Column wraps. Columns finished to match the house or the stonework.
Gazebo and pavilion overlap in everyday use: Merriam-Webster lists each word in the other's synonym list.
Nassau County Planning Notes for Your Gazebo
We've completed projects in Amelia Walk, Amelia National, Fernandina Beach and Yulee. Many Nassau County lots are wooded, so shade comes naturally and roots need planning. On a newer home, matching the builder's roofing and trim makes a new roof look like it came with the house.
Matching the roofing and trim to the house keeps an attached gazebo from looking added on. Before we draw a gazebo in Nassau County, we check where the gazebo sits on the lot, how the roofing matches the house and how the floor meets the patio.
Fans under a covered roof help because moving air helps sweat evaporate from your skin; as ENERGY STAR puts it, fans cool people, not rooms.
Approvals and Permits in Nassau County
Newer Nassau County communities, such as Amelia Walk and Amelia National, run their own architectural review, while many older island streets don't have one. Boards usually ask where the gazebo sits on the lot, how tall it is, and whether the roofing and trim match the house. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Homes inside Fernandina Beach city limits go through the City, and its Downtown and Old Town historic districts need a Certificate of Approval from the Historic District Council first. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does a gazebo cost in Nassau County? It depends on the design, so there's no standard price. The main cost drivers are freestanding or attached to the house; roof; ceiling; fans, lights, TV and fireplace; and engineering and permits. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum, and you get a fully itemized custom quote within 24 hours of your consultation.
Can a gazebo match my roof?Yes. Attached gazebos are roofed and finished to match the house.
Freestanding or attached gazebo?Freestanding gazebos create a spot in the yard; attached ones extend the house. Either kind can have a flat, shed-style or A-frame roof. Amany can show both in AutoCAD.
Who permits projects in Nassau County? The Nassau County Building Department permits unincorporated areas, including Yulee. Homes inside Fernandina Beach city limits are permitted by the City.
Does my Nassau County home need HOA approval for a gazebo? Not always. Gated and resort communities on Amelia Island run careful reviews of materials, colors and tree removal. Where a board applies, we prepare its package and submit it with you. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Do I need a permit for a gazebo in Nassau County? In most cases, yes. In Nassau County, permits come from Nassau County, or the City of Fernandina Beach inside its limits, depending on your address. We pull the permits and schedule the inspections, and every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
