A-Frame Gazebo Builder in San Marco, Jacksonville, FL

San Marco A-frames that give a covered patio height, light and drama.

A vaulted A-frame roof makes a patio feel like a real room, with a high wood ceiling and a fan on the ridge. We design A-frame gazebos for homeowners in San Marco, tied into the roofline or overframed onto an existing lanai. Many San Marco homes date to the 1920s and later, with detached garages and alleys that shape where an outdoor room can go. An A-frame is simply a gazebo with a peaked roof, and most of ours are attached to the house as an A-frame patio cover.

San Marco A-Frame Ideas

  • Detached A-frame. An A-frame gazebo can also stand on its own out in the yard.

  • Vaulted wood ceiling. A high wood ceiling with a fan on the ridge.

  • Lights and speakers. Wired into the ceiling.

  • Single-slope alternative. When an A-frame won't fit, a single slope often will.

Up to 80% of UV rays can get through clouds, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Before We Draw Your San Marco A-Frame Gazebo

Granada, San Jose and Miramar have deeper lots than the blocks near the Square, with more room for a structure. Under a canopy, a roof keeps acorns, leaves and pollen off the seating.

Not every roofline can take an A-frame. Amany checks the existing roof at the in-home visit, and if it won't fit, a single slope usually will. Before we draw an A-frame gazebo in San Marco, we check whether an overframe of the lanai is possible, what goes under the gable and where the fan and lights mount.

San Marco HOA Review and Permits

San Marco backyards are mostly shaped by City zoning and the house itself. We check for landmark status and deed restrictions first. For an A-frame, boards usually look closely at the roof pitch, how the new gable meets the existing roof, and the roofing color. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

San Marco is inside the consolidated City of Jacksonville, so building permits go through the Building Inspection Division's online system, JaxEPICS. Zoning and the fire marshal review plans along with building, and a Notice of Commencement is required for most permitted jobs. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does an A-frame gazebo cost in San Marco? It depends on the design, so there's no standard price. The main cost drivers are ceiling; fireplace, kitchen and TV; screens; the floor; and engineering and permits. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum, and you get a fully itemized custom quote within 24 hours of your consultation.

Can an A-frame tie into my existing roof?Yes. We can tie a new A-frame into your roofline so it looks original to the house.

Can an A-frame be screened?Yes. An A-frame can sit inside a screen enclosure or have the screen built around it.

Who issues permits in San Marco? The City of Jacksonville, through its JaxEPICS system. We file the permits and schedule the inspections for you.

Do I need HOA approval for an A-frame gazebo in San Marco? It depends on your street. Most San Marco homes don't need historic review, because San Marco isn't a local historic district. A designated local landmark does, so we check your address on the City's land development map first. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Do I need a permit for an A-frame gazebo in San Marco? An A-frame gazebo is a permitted roof structure tied into your home. In San Marco, permits are issued by the City of Jacksonville through JaxEPICS, and any other approval your lot needs has to be in hand before the permit is issued. Electrical work is permitted and inspected with the rest of the project. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
