A-Frame Gazebo Builder in Nocatee, FL

A-frame gazebos for Nocatee: a vaulted, solid roof attached to your home, with a warm wood ceiling underneath.

An A-frame gazebo gives a covered patio height and drama: a vaulted gable roof tied into the house, a wood ceiling, a fan on the ridge and room for a fireplace or kitchen. AY Luxury Designs designs and builds A-frame gazebos for homeowners in Nocatee, including overframes that convert an existing lanai roof into one continuous A-frame. Most homeowners know it as an A-frame patio cover: a gazebo with a peaked roof, attached to the house.

Planning Your A-frame Gazebo for a Nocatee Home

  • Start with your neighborhood's guidelines. Each Nocatee neighborhood has its own review, so we check yours before we sketch an A-frame gazebo.
  • Work from the builder lanai. Most Nocatee homes started with a standard lanai or slab, so we plan an A-frame gazebo to tie in cleanly and look original to the house.
  • Fit the lot. Nocatee lots are efficient, so we keep an A-frame gazebo inside the setbacks and think about the neighbors' view, too.
  • Plan the whole backyard. Pavers, lighting, fans and shade are designed together in AutoCAD, so everything works as one space.

According to the EPA, shaded surfaces can be 20 to 45°F cooler than the peak temperatures of unshaded materials.

A-Frame Gazebos in Nocatee: What's Different

A-frames in Nocatee. A-frames suit many Nocatee homes because they echo the gables on the house. In Cypress Trails we built a screened A-frame cedar gazebo with a stone fireplace that ties into the home's existing A-frame lanai.

Permits. Most of Nocatee is in St. Johns County, which issues the building permit, usually after a clearance sheet, and automatically notifies registered architectural review associations. Duval-side neighborhoods such as Brookwood are permitted by the City of Jacksonville. A Notice of Commencement is required for most permitted projects. See our St. Johns County permit guide.

Any roof over a patio can cut the daylight reaching nearby windows, but daylighting research from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory shows taller, sloped ceilings spread light deeper, so a raised, pitched A-frame ceiling can keep more daylight reaching the home than a low, flat cover.

Our Work in Nocatee

Screened A-frame gazebo with stone fireplace on a raised patio, Cypress Trails (Nocatee) A screened A-frame cedar gazebo that ties into the home's existing A-frame lanai so cleanly it looks original to the house. Because the yard drops off sharply, the patio is built up on a raised wall-block base. Inside, exposed rafters give it a cabin feel over a tongue-and-groove ceiling with lights and a ceiling fan, and the focal point is a gas fireplace clad in hand-laid stone with a raised hearth, a stone mantel and a TV above. The same pavers and ceiling finish continue across the existing lanai so the old and new spaces read as one.

Grand cedar gazebo with linear fireplace and two outdoor kitchens, Del Webb Nocatee An expansive A-frame cedar gazebo tied into the house, with custom columns to match the home and custom shutters, inside a screen enclosure with our expanded-view upgrade. Outside, a linear gas fireplace and a cedar privacy wall frame two outdoor kitchens with granite counters.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an A-frame gazebo in Nocatee cost? Every project gets a custom quote with an in-person AutoCAD design, and every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum. What drives the cost of an A-frame gazebo in Nocatee: the size; tie-in or overframe; roofing; ceiling; fireplace, kitchen and TV; screens; the floor; and engineering and permits. You get a fully itemized quote within 24 hours of your design consultation.

Can you turn my existing lanai roof into an A-frame? Often, yes. On a recent Jacksonville Beach project we overframed the original lanai so the roof is now one continuous A-frame.

What if an A-frame won't fit my house? When an A-frame can't be built, a single-slope patio extension often can. Amany designs the option that fits your roofline.

Do I need HOA approval for an A-frame gazebo in Nocatee? Expect it. Most Nocatee homes are in a planned community, and the review board approves structures and most backyard changes before work starts. We design to your community's guidelines from the first sketch and prepare the full submission for you. Approval is up to the board, so confirm current guidelines with your association.

Do I need a permit for an A-frame gazebo in Nocatee? An A-frame gazebo is a permitted roof structure tied into your home. Most of Nocatee is in St. Johns County, but a few neighborhoods on the Duval County side, such as Brookwood, are permitted by the City of Jacksonville. We confirm yours first. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.

Do you build A-frame gazebos in Nocatee? Yes. We design and build custom A-frame gazebos, serving homeowners in Nocatee. Your project starts with a design session at our Jacksonville studio, and then Amany comes to your home for the in-home design visit.

Do you handle everything, or do I hire separate trades? We manage the whole project, including design, HOA, permits and the structure. We handle electrical work with our licensed electrical partner, and gas and plumbing with our licensed trade partners.

Have you built A-frames in Nocatee? Yes. In Cypress Trails we built a screened A-frame cedar gazebo with a stone fireplace, tied into the home's existing A-frame lanai.
