Pavers & Patios in RiverTown

Paver patios, patio extensions, walkways and seat walls for RiverTown homes, designed in AutoCAD.

Paving over a small slab and extending it into the yard can change how you use the whole backyard. We design paver patios for RiverTown homes so the surface, the seating and whatever goes on top all work together.

Ways to Extend a RiverTown Patio

  • Paving over the old slab. Old and new surfaces covered so they read as one.

  • Borders and patterns. A border that makes the whole patio look finished.

  • Lights in the pavers. In-ground and seat-wall lights planned before the pavers go down.

  • Fire pit built in. A fire pit set into the patio with seating around it.

Interlocking concrete pavers can be taken up and put back using the same pavers, unlike asphalt or poured concrete, according to the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI).

RiverTown Planning Notes for Your Paver Patio

Raised paver patios, fire pits and gazebos are popular in RiverTown, and they're all part of our RiverTown work. Some RiverTown lots slope toward a pond or preserve, so raised patios on a wall base are a common solution. On a newer home, paving over the builder slab and extending it is one of the most common first projects.

Shape matters as much as size. A patio shaped around the furniture feels bigger than a plain rectangle of the same area. Before we draw a paver patio in RiverTown, we check how the new surface meets the old slab, what goes on top now or later and how much lot coverage the patio adds.

ICPI notes that because pavers need no curing, repairs to a paver surface can be done quickly.

Approvals and Permits in RiverTown

RiverTown's architectural review covers exterior additions, and neighborhood-level guidelines can apply too. Boards usually look at patio footprint changes, paver colors, borders and wall heights. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Building permits for RiverTown homes go through St. Johns County, and registered associations are notified automatically when exterior work is filed, so your HOA is part of the process from the start.
