Pavers & Patios in Riverside, Jacksonville, FL

Riverside paver patios that give the table, the grill and the fire room to breathe.

Most outdoor projects start at ground level. A patio extension gives the table, the grill and the fire pit room to breathe, and a good border makes the whole yard look finished. We design paver patios for homeowners in Riverside in AutoCAD, with the steps, walls and lighting worked in. Large oaks and close neighbors are part of almost every Riverside backyard, so privacy and shade come naturally and roots need planning.

Paver Patio Options in Riverside

  • Seat walls and benches. Built-in seating that also defines the edges.

  • Borders and patterns. A border that makes the whole patio look finished.

  • Fire pit built in. A fire pit set into the patio with seating around it.

  • Planters. Raised planters that soften the hardscape.

That yellow dust on Florida patios is often pine pollen, which UF/IFAS says is actually low-allergenic.

Before We Draw Your Riverside Paver Patio

Riverside is part of the Riverside Avondale Historic District, one of the City's locally designated historic districts. Around mature trees, the patio is laid out to protect roots, and borders follow the trees instead of fighting them.

A border in a contrasting color is a small detail that makes the whole patio look finished. Before we draw a paver patio in Riverside, we check how the new surface meets the old slab, what goes on top now or later and how the border meets the lawn.

Interlocking concrete pavers can be taken up and put back using the same pavers, unlike asphalt or poured concrete, according to the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI).

Riverside HOA Review and Permits

In Riverside, the City's historic review takes the place of an HOA board for most homes. We prepare the Certificate of Appropriateness application with scaled drawings and 3D renderings. For new pavers, review boards often ask about the color, the pattern and how much the footprint grows. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Riverside permits come from the City of Jacksonville once the historic review is complete. Paver work that needs a permit is filed with the rest of the project.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the price of a paver patio in Riverside set?We price each project from its AutoCAD design. The paver or stone you choose; borders and patterns; seat walls, planters and steps; lighting; and permits where structures are involved all move the number. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum, and the itemized quote arrives within 24 hours of your consultation.

Do you build seat walls and fire pits with the patio?Yes. Seat walls, benches, planters, fire pits and steps are often part of the same paver design.

Can a pergola go on pavers?Yes, with the right base and attachment. We design the structure and the paver work together so nothing has to be torn up later.

Do I need a Certificate of Appropriateness for a backyard project in Riverside?Yes, for most exterior work. Riverside is part of a local historic district, so the City reviews exterior changes, including site work like fences, driveways and sheds, before the building permit, whether or not they're visible from the street. The decision is the City's.

Does my Riverside home need HOA approval for new pavers or a patio extension? Many Riverside homes have no HOA, so the City's zoning is what applies. If your street has deed restrictions or an association, we prepare that package as well. In Riverside, the City's historic district review applies to most exterior work whether or not you have an HOA. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
