Pavers & Patios in Neptune Beach, FL

Paver patios, patio extensions, walkways and seat walls for Neptune Beach homes, designed in AutoCAD.

A new patio is the first step for a lot of Neptune Beach backyards. We design the shape, the pattern and the border in AutoCAD, then add the steps, seat walls and lights that make the space feel finished. Away from the beach, Neptune Beach lots get a little deeper, which can leave room for a kitchen and a covered area.

Neptune Beach Patio and Paver Ideas

  • Steps and raised patios. Help the patio meet a sloped yard.
  • Walkways and side paths. Connect the patio to the gate, the yard or a fire area.
  • Lights in the pavers. In-ground and seat-wall lights planned before the pavers go down.
  • Fire pit built in. A fire pit set into the patio with seating around it.

That yellow dust on Florida patios is often pine pollen, which UF/IFAS says is actually low-allergenic.

What Shapes a Paver Patio in Neptune Beach

Compact pergolas, covered patios and outdoor kitchens that fit the setbacks get the most out of a Neptune Beach lot. On a small lot, every square foot of hardscape counts toward lot coverage, so the patio layout and material are part of the permit math.

If a pergola, kitchen or fire pit might come later, we design the patio for it now so nothing has to be torn up. Before we draw a paver patio in Neptune Beach, we check how the new surface meets the old slab, where steps are needed on a slope and where lights and outlets will sit.

Interlocking concrete pavers can be taken up and put back using the same pavers, unlike asphalt or poured concrete, according to the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI).

Review Boards and Permits in Neptune Beach

Neptune Beach backyards are mostly shaped by lot coverage and setbacks. Associations are less common here than in the newer suburbs. Boards usually look at patio footprint changes, paver colors, borders and wall heights. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

The City of Neptune Beach Community Development Department issues permits, and lot coverage is checked on every submittal. Paver work that needs a permit is filed with the rest of the project.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a paver patio in Neptune Beach cost? Every project gets a custom quote with an in-person AutoCAD design, and every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum. What drives the cost of a paver patio in Neptune Beach: seat walls, planters and steps; lighting; how much the site needs to be built up; the size of the area; and permits where structures are involved. You get a fully itemized quote within 24 hours of your design consultation.

Can a hot tub go on pavers? Yes, with the right base. We offer hot tub build-ups and pads designed for the weight and look you want.

Can you pave over my old slab? Often, yes. Paving over the old slab and the new area together makes the patio read as one surface.

Do pavers count toward lot coverage in Neptune Beach? Usually, yes. Neptune Beach caps impervious surface on residential lots, and hot tubs and driveways count too. Qualifying pervious pavement isn't counted, and semi-pervious pavers can earn partial credit. We check the numbers on your survey before we design.

Does my Neptune Beach home need HOA approval for new pavers or a patio extension? Not always. In Neptune Beach, it's usually the City's rules, not an HOA, that decide how big a backyard project can be. If your street does have deed restrictions or an association, we prepare that package too. Most HOAs review changes to the patio footprint. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
