Lighting Ideas That Usually Work in HOA Communities

  • Low, downward lighting on paths, steps and seat walls.
  • Warm light under a covered patio or gazebo.
  • Dimmers for flexibility.
  • Avoid glare toward neighbors' windows and common areas.

DarkSky International recommends aiming outdoor lights downward with shielding, using timers or motion sensors, and choosing warmer colors where possible.
