Outdoor Ceiling Fan & Heater Installation in San Marco, Jacksonville, FL

Moving air and warmth for San Marco patios, designed with the structure.

A San Marco patio can be too hot in August and too chilly in January. Fans and heaters fix both. We plan them with the ceiling, so the fixtures line up with the seating and the wiring stays hidden. San Marco was developed in the 1920s, and many homes show the Mediterranean Revival style of that era.

San Marco Outdoor Comfort Ideas

  • Switches and dimmers. Placed where you'll reach them.

  • In a screen room. Fans in a screened room keep the air moving when the screens are closed.

  • Two comfort zones. Separate controls for the dining and lounge areas.

  • Over the kitchen. Air moving where the cook stands.

Outdoor fans carry location ratings: damp-rated fans are meant for covered spaces protected from direct rain, while wet-rated fans can handle direct rain, such as under an open pergola.

Before We Draw Your San Marco Fan and Heater Layout

Granada, San Jose and Miramar have deeper lots than the blocks near the Square, with more room for a structure. On an older house, the panel often decides how much new outdoor power is possible, so we check it early.

Fans and heaters should line up with the seating, not the middle of the roof. We place them in the ceiling layout after the furniture is drawn. Before we draw a fan and heater layout in San Marco, we check where the seating sits under the ceiling, how far the panel is and how fans and lights share the ceiling. We handle the electrical work with our licensed electrical partner. Gas and plumbing work is always done by our licensed trade partners.

Research in the Journal of Medical Entomology found that fan-generated wind strongly reduced mosquito catches, mainly by diluting the carbon dioxide and scents that draw them in, so a ceiling fan can help.

San Marco HOA Review and Permits

San Marco isn't a locally designated historic district, but individual homes can be local landmarks, and a local landmark needs a Certificate of Appropriateness from the City before exterior work. We check your property on the City's map before we design. Fans and heaters rarely need their own HOA review, but the structure they hang in usually does. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

In San Marco, permits are issued by the City of Jacksonville through JaxEPICS, and any other approval your lot needs has to be in hand before the permit is issued. Electrical work is permitted and inspected with the rest of the project. New circuits are permitted electrical work, and we pull the electrical permit with the rest of your project.
