Marsh Landing Outdoor Comfort Ideas

  • Fans on a pergola. Mounted to the beams and sized to the space.

  • Planned with lighting. Fans, heaters and lights laid out so nothing competes.

  • Over the kitchen. Air moving where the cook stands.

  • Wiring hidden. Runs planned inside the structure.

ENERGY STAR recommends running ceiling fans counterclockwise in summer for a cooling breeze.

What Shapes a fan and heater layout in Marsh Landing

Wind, salt air and marsh views shape Marsh Landing designs, from material choices to keeping sightlines open. Mature landscaping is common on Marsh Landing lots, so placement is planned around what's already there. Near water, every outdoor circuit and outlet is planned with protection for wet locations.

Heaters warm people, not air, so mounting position and direction matter. We plan them over the spots you sit most. Before we draw a fan and heater layout in Marsh Landing, we check the ceiling or beam each fixture mounts to, where switches belong and where the seating sits under the ceiling. The wiring is handled with our licensed electrical partner and inspected with the rest of the project.

Outdoor fans carry location ratings: damp-rated fans are meant for covered spaces protected from direct rain, while wet-rated fans can handle direct rain, such as under an open pergola.

Approvals and Permits in Marsh Landing

Marsh Landing's master association reviews exterior changes through its Architectural Review Board, and sub-associations can add their own steps. HOA review usually focuses on the structure, not the fans and heaters inside it. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

In Marsh Landing, permits come from St. Johns County. We file the clearance sheet and the permit application, record the Notice of Commencement the county requires for most permitted projects, and schedule the inspections.
