Fan and Heater Options in Crosswater
Fans on a pergola. Mounted to the beams and sized to the space.
Heaters in the headers. Mounted so they warm the seating area.
Over the kitchen. Air moving where the cook stands.
Wiring hidden. Runs planned inside the structure.
Outdoor fans carry location ratings: damp-rated fans are meant for covered spaces protected from direct rain, while wet-rated fans can handle direct rain, such as under an open pergola.
Before We Draw Your Crosswater Fan and Heater Layout
Crosswater Park, with a lap pool, a playground, a pavilion and dog parks, sits between Coastal Oaks and the Crosswater neighborhoods. Most Crosswater homes came with a standard covered lanai, so extending it, screening it or adding a kitchen is the usual first project. A newer home's panel often has room for outdoor circuits, which makes adding power simpler.
Adding fans or heaters to an existing cover often works. We check the structure and the power at the in-home visit. Before we draw a fan and heater layout in Crosswater, we check how far the panel is, where switches belong and whether the screens stay closed most of the season. We plan every circuit in the design and handle the work with our licensed electrical partner.
Research in the Journal of Medical Entomology found that fan-generated wind strongly reduced mosquito catches, mainly by diluting the carbon dioxide and scents that draw them in, so a ceiling fan can help.
Approvals and Permits in Crosswater
Crosswater's guidelines are shared across its neighborhoods, and written approval comes before installation. HOA review usually focuses on the structure, not the fans and heaters inside it. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Crosswater homes are permitted by St. Johns County. The County requires a building permit for most improvements and, in most cases, a clearance sheet before it accepts the application, and registered architectural review associations are notified automatically when exterior work is filed.

Can you add heaters to my existing covered patio?Often, yes. We look at the structure and the power during the in-home design visit and tell you what works.
