Fire Pit Installation in Jacksonville Beach, FL

Where the evening ends up: fire pits for Jacksonville Beach backyards, planned in AutoCAD.

A good fire pit is more than a bowl on the pavers. AY Luxury Designs builds gas and wood-burning fire pits, serving homeowners in Jacksonville Beach, designed with the seating, the lighting and the patio around them. Gas connections are made by our licensed gas trade partners. Near the beach, the City has sea turtle protection lighting rules, so exterior lighting close to the dunes has to be planned with them in mind.

Building a Fire Area in Jacksonville Beach

  • Gas fire pit. Starts with a switch and has no smoke. Gas connections by our licensed trade partners.
  • Wood-burning fire pit. The real crackle and smell of a fire.
  • Fire bowls. A fire bowl on a seat wall or column adds a glow.
  • Next to the kitchen. Fire and cooking close together keeps the evening in one place.

Before leaving a fire, NFPA advises dousing it with water and making sure the area is cool to the touch.

Before We Draw Your Jacksonville Beach Fire Pit

Some Jacksonville Beach lots sit in a flood zone, which can add paperwork to a permit. Ocean breezes affect a flame, so the fire feature is placed where the wind won't blow smoke or flame into the seating.

A path and a few step lights make the walk back to the house easy after dark. Before we draw a fire pit in Jacksonville Beach, we check which way the wind blows smoke, how seating wraps the fire and whether lights are wanted in the seat walls.

NAHB lists outdoor kitchens and outdoor fireplaces among the home features that have grown most in popularity over the past ten years.

Approvals and Permits in Jacksonville Beach

At Jacksonville Beach, the City's zoning usually shapes a backyard more than an HOA does. Lot coverage, setbacks and, on some streets, an association's guidelines all get checked before we draw. Boards often ask whether the fire pit is gas or wood-burning and how far it sits from the house and the property lines. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Jacksonville Beach is its own city, so permits for homes inside its limits go through the City of Jacksonville Beach Planning and Development Department, not the City of Jacksonville. Structures are submitted with a site plan on your survey that shows setbacks and lot coverage, and screen rooms and enclosures need wind-load calculations and engineered documents. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a fire pit cost in Jacksonville Beach? It depends on the design, so there's no standard price. The main cost drivers are benches and seat walls; the patio around it; lighting; gas or wood; and permits. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum, and you get a fully itemized custom quote within 24 hours of your consultation.

Gas or wood-burning fire pit? Gas is instant and smoke-free; wood gives the crackle and smell. We build both and help you choose for your yard and your HOA.

Who connects the gas? Gas work is done by our licensed gas trade partners, coordinated as part of your project.

Who issues building permits in Jacksonville Beach? The City of Jacksonville Beach Planning and Development Department, not the City of Jacksonville. We prepare the site plan and permit package and submit it for you.

Do I need HOA approval for a fire pit in Jacksonville Beach? Not always. Many Jacksonville Beach homes have no HOA but sit on tight beach lots with city setback and lot coverage rules, while planned communities near the Intracoastal, such as Isle of Palms, run their own review. Many HOAs review fire pits. We check before we design and prepare any package needed. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
