Fire Pit Installation in Fernandina Beach, FL
Fernandina Beach fire pits designed as a destination, with benches, seat walls and lights.
A good fire pit is more than a bowl on the pavers. AY Luxury Designs builds gas and wood-burning fire pits, serving homeowners in Fernandina Beach, designed with the seating, the lighting and the patio around them. Gas connections are made by our licensed gas trade partners. In Fernandina's historic districts, materials and placement matter as much as the design itself, so outdoor rooms are planned to sit behind the house.

Fernandina Beach Fire Pit Ideas
- Wood-burning fire pit. The real crackle and smell of a fire.
- Seat walls. Walls at seating height around the fire area.
- Fire tables. A linear fire table can sit at seating height on the patio.
- Fire bowls. A fire bowl on a seat wall or column adds a glow.
Florida's summer thunderstorms are a reason to know the CDC's rule: open structures like gazebos and porches don't protect you from lightning, so go indoors when thunder roars.
Before We Draw Your Fernandina Beach Fire Pit
Breezes off the marsh and the Amelia River help, but summer sun and bugs still make covered, screened space the most-used room in Fernandina Beach. On newer homes, the fire area usually comes with a patio extension, so the seating and fire are designed together.
Gas fire pits are easy to use and smoke-free, while wood-burning fire pits give the classic crackle. We help you weigh both at the in-home visit. Before we draw a fire pit in Fernandina Beach, we check which way the wind blows smoke, the path back to the house and whether lights are wanted in the seat walls.
According to the EPA, shaded surfaces can be 20 to 45°F cooler than the peak temperatures of unshaded materials.
Fernandina Beach HOA Review and Permits
Fernandina Beach projects go to an HOA board, the Historic District Council or neither, depending on where the home is. We check first. For a fire pit, review boards commonly look at the fuel type, the materials and its location on the lot. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Homes inside Fernandina Beach city limits are permitted by the City. In the Downtown and Old Town historic districts, exterior changes need a Certificate of Approval from the Historic District Council before the building permit, and a pergola or deck with a structure goes to the Council. Outside city limits, unincorporated Nassau County issues the permit. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a minimum budget for a fire pit in Fernandina Beach? Yes. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum. Beyond that, the cost depends on gas or wood; size and finish; benches and seat walls; the patio around it; and permits, and your fully itemized custom quote comes within 24 hours of your consultation.
Who connects the gas? Gas work is done by our licensed gas trade partners, coordinated as part of your project.
How far should a fire pit be from the house? It depends on the fire type and local rules. We plan clearances from the house, the fence and any structure during design.
Do I need Historic District Council approval in Fernandina Beach? Only if your home is in the Downtown or Old Town historic districts. There, exterior changes need a Certificate of Approval before the building permit, and pergolas and decks with a structure go to the Council. The decision is the Council's.
Will my Fernandina Beach HOA review a fire pit? In most cases, yes. Mainland communities in Fernandina Beach usually have architectural review boards; the historic districts have the City's own review. Many HOAs review fire pits. We put the package together and handle the submittal with you. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
