How Twenty Mile Homeowners Screen Their Backyards
Screen rooms with a solid roof. A roofed screen room keeps rain off the furniture and still lets the breeze through.
Doors where you walk. Door placement follows your path from the house to the yard and the grill.
Expanded-view upgrade. Cleaner frame lines so the yard reads like a picture window.
Hot tub inside the screen. Soak without the bugs, with a pad or build-up planned in.
The CDC recommends using screens and repairing holes in them to keep mosquitoes outdoors.
Before We Draw Your Twenty Mile Screen Enclosure
Shade, bug-free screened space and room for kids to play are the most common requests in Twenty Mile. In Twenty Mile we built a gazebo with a fireplace and an outdoor kitchen inside a screen enclosure, so we know how these lots work. A compact yard can still hold a screened room if the footprint is drawn carefully from the survey.
Fans inside a screened room keep the air moving on still evenings, so we plan the mounting points before the roof goes on. Before we draw a screen enclosure in Twenty Mile, we check where the doors should go for daily traffic, which frame color suits the house and where fans and lights can be mounted.
Florida is home to more than 80 species of mosquitoes, according to UF/IFAS.
Approvals and Permits in Twenty Mile
In Twenty Mile, Nocatee's published guidelines ask owners to get written approval before installation, and each neighborhood adds its own. Boards usually look at screen and frame colors, the enclosure's height and how it meets the roof. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Building permits for Twenty Mile homes go through St. Johns County, and registered associations are notified automatically when exterior work is filed, so your HOA is part of the process from the start. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
