Pavers & Patios in Duval County

The floor of your outdoor space: Duval County paver patios planned with everything on top.

Paving over a small slab and extending it into the yard can change how you use the whole backyard. We design paver patios for Duval County homes so the surface, the seating and whatever goes on top all work together.

Paver Patio Options in Duval County

  • Steps and raised patios. Help the patio meet a sloped yard.

  • Walkways and side paths. Connect the patio to the gate, the yard or a fire area.

  • Lights in the pavers. In-ground and seat-wall lights planned before the pavers go down.

  • Fire pit built in. A fire pit set into the patio with seating around it.

ICPI notes that because pavers need no curing, repairs to a paver surface can be done quickly.

Duval County Planning Notes for Your Paver Patio

Riverside-Avondale, Springfield and St. Johns Quarter are Jacksonville's local historic districts, where exterior work needs a Certificate of Appropriateness first. Older Duval County neighborhoods have big oaks and narrow lots, so designs work around roots and close neighbors. Sandy soil near the beach makes the base under the pavers important, and light-colored pavers stay cooler underfoot in full sun.

If a pergola, kitchen or fire pit might come later, we design the patio for it now so nothing has to be torn up. Before we draw a paver patio in Duval County, we check how the new surface meets the old slab, where steps are needed on a slope and where lights and outlets will sit.

Conventional paving gets hot: an EPA-cited pilot study found asphalt reaching surface temperatures up to 152°F at midday, while cool pavements stayed 10 to 16°F cooler.

Approvals and Permits in Duval County

Whether a Duval County project needs HOA approval, historic review or neither depends on the address, so we check that before we design. Boards usually look at patio footprint changes, paver colors, borders and wall heights. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

We confirm your jurisdiction, file the permit and schedule the inspections through final, wherever you are in Duval County.
