Outdoor Ceiling Fan & Heater Installation in SilverLeaf

Comfort in July and January: fans and heaters for SilverLeaf outdoor rooms.

A SilverLeaf patio can be too hot in August and too chilly in January. Fans and heaters fix both. We plan them with the ceiling, so the fixtures line up with the seating and the wiring stays hidden.

SilverLeaf Outdoor Comfort Ideas

  • Heaters in the headers. Mounted so they warm the seating area.

  • In a screen room. Fans in a screened room keep the air moving when the screens are closed.

  • Planned with lighting. Fans, heaters and lights laid out so nothing competes.

  • Wiring hidden. Runs planned inside the structure.

Ceiling fans make a covered lanai more comfortable through a wind-chill effect, and ENERGY STAR notes they cool people, not rooms, so they're best switched off when no one is outside.

SilverLeaf Planning Notes for Your Fan and Heater Layout

More than 4,350 acres of SilverLeaf are set aside for conservation, so many backyards look onto preserve. Newer SilverLeaf lots are efficient, so a design has to fit the setbacks and still leave room to play. Newer homes rarely come with the outdoor circuits a full outdoor living space needs, so we plan new circuits with the design.

We handle the electrical work with our licensed electrical partner. Before we draw a fan and heater layout in SilverLeaf, we check the ceiling or beam each fixture mounts to, whether the screens stay closed most of the season and where the seating sits under the ceiling. The wiring is handled with our licensed electrical partner and inspected with the rest of the project.

UF/IFAS notes that warm-white LEDs below about 3600K are harder for insects to see, while cooler-white bulbs attract more bugs.

Approvals and Permits in SilverLeaf

In SilverLeaf, we prepare the package to the master and village guidelines and keep it consistent with what we'll build. Fans and heaters rarely need their own HOA review, but the structure they hang in usually does. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Building permits for SilverLeaf homes go through St. Johns County, and registered associations are notified automatically when exterior work is filed, so your HOA is part of the process from the start.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the price of a fan and heater layout in SilverLeaf set?We price each project from its AutoCAD design. Distance from the panel; the number of fans and heaters; the structure they mount to; circuits and controls; and permits all move the number. Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum, and the itemized quote arrives within 24 hours of your consultation.

Do I need an electrician to install an outdoor ceiling fan?Yes. New wiring should be done by a licensed electrical contractor and may require a permit. We handle it with our licensed electrical partner as part of the build.

How many fans does a patio need?It depends on the size and shape of the space. We place fans over the seating in the AutoCAD design.

Who permits SilverLeaf homes?New fan and heater circuits are permitted electrical work. SilverLeaf homes are permitted by St. Johns County. The County requires a building permit for most improvements and, in most cases, a clearance sheet before it accepts the application, and registered architectural review associations are notified automatically when exterior work is filed. We handle the electrical side with our licensed electrical partner.

Do I need HOA approval for outdoor lighting or electrical work in SilverLeaf?Plan on it. Because SilverLeaf is organized into villages, we confirm which guidelines apply to your home first. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
