Gazebos in St. Johns County

A room outside: gazebos for St. Johns County backyards, planned with the patio around them.

Some St. Johns County homeowners want a gazebo out by the fire pit; others want one tied into the back of the house. We design both, with the columns, ceiling and roofing chosen to suit your home. Your gazebo can be freestanding or attached to the house, with a flat, shed-style or A-frame roof.

How St. Johns County Families Use a Gazebo

  • Attached to the house. Roofed and finished to look original.

  • Privacy panels. Panels on one side for privacy from the neighbors.

  • Kitchen underneath. A gazebo is one of the best places for an outdoor kitchen.

  • Column wraps. Columns finished to match the house or the stonework.

Outdoor fans carry location ratings: damp-rated fans are meant for covered spaces protected from direct rain, while wet-rated fans can handle direct rain, such as under an open pergola.

Before We Draw Your St. Johns County Gazebo

Registered architectural review associations in St. Johns County are notified automatically when exterior work is filed. Many St. Johns County homes are newer and came with a basic covered lanai, so extending it is the most common first project. On a newer home, matching the builder's roofing and trim makes a new roof look like it came with the house.

A gazebo inside a screen enclosure gives you shelter and bug-free evenings in one structure. Before we draw a gazebo in St. Johns County, we check where the gazebo sits on the lot, where fans and lights mount and how the floor meets the patio.

Florida's summer thunderstorms are a reason to know the CDC's rule: open structures like gazebos and porches don't protect you from lightning, so go indoors when thunder roars.

Approvals and Permits in St. Johns County

In St. Johns County, the HOA and the county permit are separate steps, and registered associations are notified automatically when exterior work is filed. For a gazebo, review boards often want elevations, the roofing color and the distance from the property lines. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Homes inside the City of St. Augustine are permitted by the City, and the rest of St. Johns County by the county. We confirm your jurisdiction first. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
