Fire Pit Installation in St. Johns, FL

Gas and wood-burning fire pits for St. Johns patios, built into the seating and the stonework.

Even in Florida there are plenty of nights for a fire. We design and build fire pits for homeowners in St. Johns as part of the patio, with built-in benches or seat walls around them, so the fire area feels like a destination. Gas connections are made by our licensed gas trade partners. Communities like Durbin Crossing, Aberdeen and Stillwater have many homes on pond or preserve lots, where the view is the main event.

Fire Pit Options in St. Johns

  • Built-in bench. A curved or straight bench that wraps the fire.
  • Sunken fire areas. A step down to the fire with benches makes a cozy room in the yard.
  • Fire bowls. A fire bowl on a seat wall or column adds a glow.
  • Lighting around it. Step and seat-wall lights for the walk back to the house.

Florida's summer thunderstorms are a reason to know the CDC's rule: open structures like gazebos and porches don't protect you from lightning, so go indoors when thunder roars.

Designing a Fire Pit for St. Johns

Celestina, Cimarrone and Beachwalk are among the newer St. Johns communities, with homes whose builder lanais are ready to grow. Facing the water, the fire area is often placed at the edge of the patio so the view is part of the evening.

Some families want the fire close to the kitchen; others want it out in the yard as a destination. We show both options in AutoCAD. Before we draw a fire pit in St. Johns, we check clearance from the house, fence and trees, which way the wind blows smoke and the path back to the house.

The EPA reports that shaded surfaces can be 20 to 45°F cooler than the peak temperatures of unshaded materials.

St. Johns HOA Review and Permits

Architectural review is part of almost every St. Johns project, and the right package depends on which association and village your home is in. Boards often ask whether the fire pit is gas or wood-burning and how far it sits from the house and the property lines. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Every permitted St. Johns project goes through St. Johns County. We prepare the clearance sheet and permit package and schedule the inspections. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
