A-Frame Gazebo Builder in Crosswinds (Nocatee)

A-frame gazebos for Crosswinds: a vaulted roof attached to your home, with a warm wood ceiling underneath.

An A-frame turns a patio into a vaulted outdoor room. For Crosswinds homes, we design them attached to the house, overframed onto an existing lanai, or detached out in the yard. An A-frame is simply a gazebo with a peaked roof, and most of ours are attached to the house as an A-frame patio cover.

Ways to Build an A-Frame in Crosswinds

  • Overframe on the lanai. Convert an existing lanai roof into one continuous A-frame.

  • Matching roofing. Roofing and trim matched to the house.

  • Single-slope alternative. When an A-frame won't fit, a single slope often will.

  • Attached to the house. A gable roof that meets the existing roof cleanly.

ENERGY STAR recommends running ceiling fans counterclockwise in summer for a cooling breeze.

What Shapes an A-frame gazebo in Crosswinds

Crosswinds is one of Nocatee's newest neighborhoods, near Pine Island Academy. Close neighbors make privacy panels and well-placed walls a common request in Crosswinds. On a newer home, matching the builder's roofing and trim makes a new roof look like it came with the house.

Not every roofline can take an A-frame. Amany checks the existing roof at the in-home visit, and if it won't fit, a single slope usually will. Before we draw an A-frame gazebo in Crosswinds, we check what goes under the gable, how the roofing matches the house and how the gable meets your existing roof.

Gazebos are great for sun and rain, but the CDC notes that gazebos and picnic shelters do not protect you from lightning, so head indoors when you hear thunder.

Approvals and Permits in Crosswinds

Because Crosswinds is new, its guidelines are recent, and the association expects a complete package before installation. For an A-frame, review boards commonly ask for elevations of the gable and the roofing color. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Crosswinds homes are permitted by St. Johns County. The County requires a building permit for most improvements and, in most cases, a clearance sheet before it accepts the application, and registered architectural review associations are notified automatically when exterior work is filed. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
