Fruit Cove Pavilion Ideas
Freestanding gathering space. Set out in the yard or at the end of a walkway, sized for how many people you host.
Lounge with a TV. A covered living room in the yard.
Fireplace. A focal point for cooler nights.
Wood ceiling and fans. Comfort and warmth overhead.
Shade makes a real difference: the EPA reports that shaded surfaces can be 20 to 45°F cooler than the peak temperatures of unshaded materials.
Designing a Pavilion for Fruit Cove
Older Fruit Cove homes often sit on larger lots than the newer communities to the south, with room for a bigger patio or a freestanding structure. Under mature trees, a solid roof keeps leaves and pollen off the furniture, and footings are placed to work around roots.
We place pavilions to frame a view or anchor the end of the yard. Before we draw a pavilion in Fruit Cove, we check the walkway from the house, where power has to run and the view from the pavilion.
Fans under a covered roof help because moving air helps sweat evaporate from your skin; as ENERGY STAR puts it, fans cool people, not rooms.
Approvals and Permits in Fruit Cove
Fruit Cove includes riverfront homes on larger lots and planned communities like Julington Creek Plantation with their own architectural review. For a pavilion, boards typically look at its footprint on the lot, its height and its distance from the property lines. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
Fruit Cove is unincorporated St. Johns County, so the county issues the permit and schedules inspections. Every permitted structure gets its necessary engineered documents.
