Designing an outdoor kitchen electrical project for San Marco
Many San Marco homes date to the 1920s and later, with detached garages and alleys that shape where an outdoor room can go. Granada, San Jose and Miramar have deeper lots than the blocks near the Square, with more room for a structure. On waterfront lots, outdoor power is placed and protected with moisture in mind.
Protected outlets for wet locations are a must in any outdoor kitchen. Before we draw an outdoor kitchen electrical project in San Marco, we check which appliances need power, where task lights mount and where the kitchen gets wet. The wiring is handled with our licensed electrical partner and inspected with the rest of the project.
NFPA recommends keeping children and pets at least three feet away from the grilling area.
Approvals and Permits in San Marco
In San Marco, most homes have no HOA board and no historic review. Individually designated landmarks are the exception. Associations typically look at the kitchen's placement and finishes, not the wiring inside it. Confirm current guidelines with your association.
In San Marco, permits are issued by the City of Jacksonville through JaxEPICS, and any other approval your lot needs has to be in hand before the permit is issued. Electrical work is permitted and inspected with the rest of the project.
