Linear Fire Features in Jacksonville, FL

Linear fireplaces and linear fire pits for Northeast Florida: a long, clean line of fire built into a wall or a bench.

A linear fire feature gives you a wide, low ribbon of flame that suits modern and transitional homes, set into a fireplace wall, a privacy wall or a sunken bench area. AY Luxury Designs designs linear fireplaces and linear fire pits for homeowners in Jacksonville and across Northeast Florida, often custom-built to fit the design rather than dropped in from a catalog. Gas connections are made by our licensed gas trade partners.

Linear Fire Features: Your Options

  • Linear fireplace walls. Set in stone, stucco or wall block, often with a mantel and a TV above.
  • Linear fire pits. Long fire pits between parallel benches, in a sunken area or on the patio.
  • Between privacy walls. Framed by privacy walls so the fire becomes the focal point.
  • Lighted shelves and caps. Accent lighting built into shelves, caps and steps.

NAHB counts outdoor fireplaces among the home features that have grown most in popularity over the past decade.

Before leaving a fire, NFPA advises dousing it with water and making sure the area is cool to the touch.

Permits and HOA approval

Fireplaces and gas work are permitted, and fire features have code requirements for placement and clearances. Many HOAs review them too. We design to code, include the feature in your HOA application and handle the permitting.

Recent Linear Fire Features Work

A-frame cedar gazebo with linear gas fire feature and outdoor kitchen, Jacksonville Beach We turned this home's original gable-roof lanai into a full A-frame by over-framing a new A-frame that ties straight into it, finished in white outside to match the house, with new posts that match the existing ones. Inside, a stained tongue-and-groove ceiling with dimmable lights and a ridge fan tops the space. A linear gas fireplace with lights under the caps, a reclaimed-wood mantel and a TV above sits between two privacy walls, and a matching outdoor kitchen with a second TV sits under the original lanai. The whole space is screened top to bottom with our expanded-view upgrade.

Cedar gazebo, screen enclosure and outdoor kitchen, The Coves (Sawgrass Players Club) An expansive A-frame cedar gazebo tied into the home's roofline, with a linear gas fireplace and TV wall, inside a screen enclosure with our expanded-view upgrade, over marble laid in a French pattern with an outdoor kitchen and a new door opening into the house.

Pergola-to-gazebo makeover with travertine and seating walls, Sawgrass (Ponte Vedra Beach) We removed an aging pergola and outdoor kitchen and replaced them with a custom cedar gazebo with a wood ceiling, a screen enclosure with a motorized retractable screen and a linear fireplace. French-pattern travertine, seating walls, columns and a water feature tie it together, with in-ground lighting for evenings.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a linear fire feature cost? Every project gets a custom quote with an in-person AutoCAD design, and every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum. What drives the cost of a linear fire feature: the length and finish; wall or pit; the gas connection by our licensed gas trade partners; a mantel, TV or shelves; lighting; and permits. You get a fully itemized quote within 24 hours of your design consultation.

Can a linear fireplace go under a gazebo or covered patio? Yes, with the right design and clearances. Many of our linear fireplaces sit under a gazebo or inside a screen room.

Who connects the gas for a linear fire feature? Gas work is done by our licensed gas trade partners, coordinated as part of your project.

Do I need a permit for an outdoor fireplace? Typically yes, and fireplaces have code requirements for placement and clearances. We design to code and handle the permitting.

Do you handle everything, or do I hire separate trades? We manage the whole project, including design, HOA, permits and the structure. We handle electrical work with our licensed electrical partner, and gas and plumbing with our licensed trade partners.

What happens if I build without HOA approval? Associations can require changes or removal and may levy fines. We don't start a structure in a planned community until the approval is in hand.

How soon can my project start? It depends on the scope, but we can start most projects within two to four weeks.

Do you offer financing? Yes. You can finance through Synchrony Bank, including 18 months of no-interest financing, or ask us about our other financing options.
