The Smark Family
Architectural A-Frame
This custom cedar A-frame gazebo was designed to seamlessly mirror the home’s architecture while transforming the backyard into a fully integrated outdoor living and entertainment space—complete with a built-in kitchen, hidden TV, synchronized audio, and color-controlled lighting.
Project Overview
This custom-built A-frame gazebo was designed to blend seamlessly with the home’s architecture while elevating the outdoor living experience into something extraordinary. Constructed from premium cedar and finished with the same architectural shingles as the main house, the structure features two closed A-frames that create a striking silhouette and a sense of refined symmetry.
The posts are clad in Hardie board with custom trim detailing that mirrors the home’s existing columns and color palette, ensuring a cohesive and intentional design from every angle. Underneath, a stunning tongue-and-groove ceiling in a semi-transparent chestnut finish adds warmth and visual depth, creating a soft honey-toned glow both day and night.
Integrated can lighting and flush-mount speakers are set directly into the wood ceiling—fully hardwired underground to connect to the home’s interior sound system. This allows music and lighting to be controlled via Bluetooth, perfectly syncing ambiance throughout the entire property. The can lights are color-changing, offering both practical illumination and vibrant mood lighting for evening entertaining.
At the heart of the gazebo lies a complete outdoor entertainment center. The built-in kitchen includes a full bar, stainless steel grill, mini fridge, and custom pantry storage—every element designed for functionality and flow. Hidden within the structure’s A-frame design is a recessed television that transforms this open-air retreat into an immersive entertainment hub, whether for watching the big game, hosting friends, or unwinding under the stars.
The final result is an outdoor space that’s as luxurious as it is livable—where craftsmanship, technology, and design converge to create a backyard experience that truly extends the home.
