Project Overview
Blending architectural harmony with functional luxury, this 36’ x 20’ cedar A-frame patio extension was designed to look as if it were built with the home from day one. The open-gabled structure is supported by three bold front posts, each wrapped in cement Hardie board and trimmed to mirror the home’s original columns. Downward-facing air braces accent the ridge beam, adding an elegant structural detail that reinforces the A-frame’s timeless aesthetic.
The entire ceiling is finished in tongue-and-groove cedar, stained in a semi-transparent chestnut tone that casts a warm honey glow. Integrated LED can lights—Bluetooth-controlled and color-changing—transform the ambiance with a tap of a phone, creating a space equally suited for lively gatherings or quiet evenings outdoors.
On the right side, twin linear outdoor kitchens run parallel to one another for seamless entertaining. One kitchen features a premium grill and smoker with a built-in warmer, ample storage, and concealed trash compartments. The opposite side includes a sink, mini fridge, and full pantry, extending into a sleek bar where guests can dine at counter height without a step up. Both kitchens are built from premium wall block and topped with polished granite countertops, complemented by stainless steel appliances and soft-close doors and drawers.
Custom powder-coated aluminum shutters—color-matched to the home—frame both sides of the structure. These shutters are lockable for added security and rated for hurricane protection, offering both privacy and peace of mind. On the left side, the design continues with a stunning floor-to-header two-way linear fireplace crafted from the same premium wall block as the kitchen, providing a see-through focal point that connects indoor comfort with outdoor living.
The entire structure is painted a crisp white to match the home’s trim, while the natural cedar ceiling and glowing accent lighting add warmth and depth. Built atop a raised retaining wall system, the space feels elevated in both form and function. Screened with durable 20/20 no-see-um mesh and fitted with a four-foot access door, the patio remains protected from pests while maintaining unobstructed airflow and visibility.
