The Octagon Oasis

Project Overview

For this custom outdoor living project, I designed a one-of-a-kind patio that delivers a true geometric wow factor. The layout features two built-out octagons extending from the left and right-hand corners of the lanai, creating a dynamic visual symmetry that sets the entire space apart. Between the octagons, a full-length recessed step draws the eye inward, illuminated by sleek step lighting that enhances both function and ambiance while beautifully framing the entrance.

The design was carefully engineered to open up the view of the home, creating a sense of depth and balance. The right-hand octagon is dedicated to leisure and relaxation, while the left side houses a luxury outdoor kitchen designed for entertaining. This L-shaped kitchen features a stunning floating waterfall-edge granite counter with precision mitered edges and integrated lighting for a clean, modern finish.

The main kitchen build is crafted from premium wall block with a coordinating charcoal brick veneer that ties seamlessly into the Stonehurst charcoal border outlining the patio. Inside the kitchen are all the essentials of high-end outdoor living — a built-in grill, dual pantry doors, a mini fridge, and an undermount sink topped with the same sleek granite.

For the flooring, we used a combination of Stonehurst Glacier and Stonehurst Charcoal, a modern gray palette that perfectly complements the granite and brings the entire design together into a cohesive, contemporary outdoor statement that’s unlike anything else in the neighborhood.
