Ways to Add a Fire Table in St. Augustine

  • Fire bowls. A raised bowl beside the pool or at the edge of the patio.

  • Finished to match. Stone and caps that match your pavers and walls.

  • Lighting around it. Step and wall lights so the area is safe after dark.

  • Gas connection. Made by our licensed trade partners as part of the project.

Florida's summer thunderstorms are a reason to know the CDC's rule: open structures like gazebos and porches don't protect you from lightning, so go indoors when thunder roars.

Before We Draw Your St. Augustine Fire Table

Downtown, the City's historic districts protect the look of the street, so outdoor rooms there are designed to sit quietly behind the house. Out west near I-95, communities like SilverLeaf, Shearwater and Trailmark have younger homes and open backyards ready for a first project. New-build yards often need a patio extension before a fire feature fits, so we design them together.

A lid that covers the burner turns the fire table into a regular table during the day. Before we draw a fire table in St. Augustine, we check the seating around the table, the gas route and the walking path around it.

Fire pits and fireplaces topped the list of outdoor design elements in a national ASLA survey of residential landscape architects.

Approvals and Permits in St. Augustine

In St. Augustine, the review that matters depends on where you live: a community architectural review board in places like SilverLeaf, Palencia or Markland, the City's historic review downtown, or simply the county's rules on an older street. Review boards usually look at fire feature placement and finishes. Confirm current guidelines with your association.

Whether your home sits inside the City of St. Augustine or in unincorporated St. Johns County decides who issues the permit and whether historic review applies. We confirm your jurisdiction from your address before we design, and the county requires a recorded Notice of Commencement for most permitted projects.

Every AY Luxury Designs project has a $10,000 minimum, and the itemized quote arrives within 24 hours of your consultation.

Can a fire table be built into a seat wall?Yes. Built-in fire tables set into a seat wall or bench are a popular choice.

Can I use a fire table near the pool?Often, yes, with the right placement and clearances. We plan it in AutoCAD with the deck around it.

Do you work in Palencia?Yes. Our projects include work in Palencia, and we serve homeowners all across St. Augustine. Palencia has its own architectural review, so confirm current guidelines with your association.

Do I need HOA approval for a fire table in St. Augustine?Usually, yes, if your home is in a community with an architectural review board, and most St. Augustine communities have one.
